Kitting operations at Inter-Logistic Europe

11 novembre 2016

Some products are only complete after the assembly of different components: a box with its lid, a bottle with its cap ... Kitting consists in bringing together these different components in order to assemble them and to create a unique product. Kits are then formed and subsequently transported to their place of assembly.

Benefits of kitting

In logistics, kitting works on a just-in-time basis, which offers the following advantages:

  • A very significant gain of time and a better productivity: our technical team retrieves the goods at a fixed location, sparing us from too many return trips between different areas.
  • Space-saving, especially in case of arrival of new parts that usually require a full installation (furniture + space)
  • Flows synchronization as soon as the production process is launched
  • Optimal Inventory Management

At ILE, kitting operations are ensured by optimal pick-up points designed to limit our operators’ mental fatigue. Our trucks also maintain the integrity of the parts on the go, and waste areas throughout the course. In order to preserve our teams and to reduce muscle fatigue, ergonomic solutions are implemented throughout the process.
